CT (Cat Scan) Computed Axial Tomography

Picture
What is a CT?

CT takes the idea of conventional X-ray imaging to a new level. Instead of finding the outline of bones and organs, a CAT san machine forms a three-dimensional computer model of a patient's insides. The computer generates three-dimensional images from flat (i.e, two-dimensional) X-ray pictures.

CT: What to Expect

The technologist will simply ask you to lie down on a cushioned table which will move you to the correct place after you have been positioned for scanning. Just relax- even take a nap- but try to lie as still as possible since any movement during this time will blur the picture. CT scans usually take between 15-30 minutes.
